It's Always Something

When you think about it...I think it's pretty amazing that I actually work out 4 to 6 times a week. As a father and husband, a lot can interfere with a trip to the gym...let's review what can go wrong. First is the trip home from work...being a lazy S.O.B. I have to fight the urge to drive straight home and watch Sports Center.

Next is the dreaded call from one of my five sons. I actually feel guilty every time one of their names shows up on the caller ID because my chest tightens and my heart races...how much is this call going to cost me in terms of time and/or money.

This time of year also presents challenges getting "into" the gym. Two weeks ago I literally could not find a parking space on Monday. Monday's during the winter, especially at the beginning of the year, is a bad time to train because of all the New Years resolutions.

Today I was presented a challenge that I couldn't overcome. Wife took youngest son to play rehearsal...I made it to the gym...no freaking socks!! Given the 7 years of Ambien use I am surprised this hasn't happened more often. I can remember only one other time over the years where I forgot to pack socks. Since today was a "jump" training day I just had to call it a night.

So I persevere and will use my agitated energy tomorrow night for a great workout!
